New CRTC chair is finally announced

Minister of Canadian Heritage appoints Vicky Eatrides as the new CRTC chair. - Dec 19, 2022


OAKVILLE - Dec 19th, 2022: SkyChoice Communications is pleased to learn that after a 4 month extension to Ian Scott's term, a new replacement CRTC chair was finally appointed by the Minister of Canadian Heritage Pablo Rodriguez.

Coming over from the federal government's Competition Bureau, Vicky Eatrides was a Senior Deputy Commissioner in charge of enforcing criminal and civil provisions of the Competition Act. With her substantial background in competition law, SkyChoice is hopeful that Ms. Eatrides' expertise in telecommunications, broadcasting and new technologies will allow leading the CRTC in resolving the current issues with unreasonable wholesale access rates and resolve the competitive imbalance facing Canada's independent telecom providers.

Ms. Eatrides taught Competition Law courses at Queen’s University for several years and has spoken at numerous domestic and international conferences and events. She is a member of the Ontario Bar and holds degrees in Economics and Common Law.
